Founded in 1985 in Kalamazoo Michigan, Bell’s Brewery is a pioneering craft brewery known for iconic beers like Two Hearted Ale (IPA) and Oberon. Starting as a homebrew supply shop in 1983, it grew into a major regional producer, now distributing in over 50 states, before being sold to Lion (Kirin) in 2021.

- Oberon Ale (Wheat Ale):Â A wildly popular seasonal wheat ale released every spring; its arrival is celebrated as “Oberon Day” in Michigan.

- Hopslam Ale (Double IPA):Â A highly sought-after seasonal release in early January known for its honey-sweetened, heavy hop profile.
About Bell’s Hazy Hearted IPA

- Style: Hazy IPA A dressed-up APA with more intense fruit flavors.
- ABV: 7.5%
- IBU: 41
- Appearance: Hazy golden-amber with a thick, frothy white head.
- Flavor Profile: A juicy, tropical flavor profile with prominent notes of orange, tangerine, and grapefruit.
- Aroma: Strong citrus and passion fruit with hints of pine.
- Hops: The hop profile prominently features Strata and Mosaic and is enhanced with Citra and Galaxy for the tropical additions.Â
- Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, soft, and creamy, with moderate carbonation.
- Food Paring: Grilled chicken, fish tacos, spicy Thai curry, citrus-dressed ceviche, and sharp cheddar cheese.
Overall Impression: This Hazy was a bit underwhelming in flavor, mouthfeel, and finish. It just didn’t have enough punch to make me buy another six-pack. I did, however, purchase the “Big Hearted Imperial IPA”, weighing in at 9.5% ABV, and wasn’t impressed with this beer either. Therefore…

Community Reviews & Comments
- CoasterRider: Pours slightly opaque golden color with a medium head. Aroma is slightly citrus & fruity as is taste. Smooth mouthfeel and body. Easy drinking beer with a mellow finish.
- RyanK252:…Drinkable, but conflicted; I definitely expect better from Bell’s, especially if they’re gonna make it a sibling to Two Hearted.
- burkesbongsnbeers: Tastes good, hints of tangerine and some citrus. Feels smooth in the beginning and near the end gets thick.
- BeersWithGary: I really appreciate the dry mouthfeel.
- Kiiz: Do yourself a favor and knock one of these down, equally as good on the beach as it is on the slopes.
- dacrza1: I find hazys to be mostly a mild experience, and this one is no different… solid, not spectacular, and a good accompaniment to a Bell’s mix pack of Two Hearts…
- AZgman: The hazy version of Two Hearted Ale from Bells is pretty much a mediocre beer, at least compared to the original Two Hearted Ale.Â
- CBlack85: I found the beer to be pleasant, but a bit more generic than many of the NE IPA’s that I have tried. This is not a style that I typically drink a lot of, and this one isn’t doing much to change my mind.
- ramseye4: Another run of the mill hazy.
