Burlington Beer Company (BBCO) is a popular independent craft brewery and restaurant located in the South End of Burlington, Vermont. Established in 2014, the brewery is well-known for its creative branding and wide variety of beers, particularly its hazy New England IPAs.

The South End is a vibrant, industrial-chic district anchored by Pine Street, known for its creative arts scene, craft breweries, and eclectic local businesses.

If you plan on taking a trip to Vermont, and like artisanal culture, F&B, and outdoor access to the mountains or lakes, check out Winooski, Brattleboro, Stowe, and Richmond.

BBCO is a creative and innovative award-winning brewery (2024 Craft Beer Marketing Winner) and is well known for their IPAs, DIPAs, Stouts, and Lagers. Their taproom features over 40 rotating seasonals and limited-time releases on tap.

About Burlington Beer Company’s Enchanted Ruins

A glass of hazy New England style India Pale Ale next to a colorful can labeled 'Enchanted Ruins' from Burlington Beer Co.
  • Style: NEIPA – More cloudy than an IPA and less bitter.
  • ABV: 6.4%
  • IBU: Leaning towards 30
  • Appearance: Cloudy, opaque creamy orange color with a frothy white head and good lacing.
  • Flavor Profile: A juicy sweet orange dominance with shades of tropical notes.
  • Aroma: Intense tropical papaya notes combined with citrus.
  • Hops: Strata, Mosaic, Citra, and Cascade hops.
  • Mouthfeel: Soft, and creamy with moderate carbonation and a lingering tropical finish.
  • Food Paring: Cream-based pasta dishes, coconut shrimp, Pho, fried calamari, and “Lob-Stah” rolls.

Overall Impression

This is our first go-around with Burlington Beer Co./Enchanted Ruins and consider it to be a top-shelf craft NEIPA brew. The flavor profile remains true to a standard grain bill that typically includes a combo of pale ale malt, flaked oats and wheat that gives this beer a rich and creamy mouthfeel. There is no indication that this beer contains any artificial additives in order to beef up its taste so we invite you to consider adding it to your fridge, if you can find a four-pack of 16 oz. cans.

Community Reviews & Comments

  • Alcohol Legs: Score 87/100
  • RJT: Good but not great
  • CloudNothings: Smooth and easy to drink, very subtle flavor
  • Jugs_McGhee: Juicy tropical fruit. Melon. Citrus. Rindy bitterness. A balanced enjoyable brew, though not a standout beer in the turbid IPA category.
  • DaveMaciolek21: Flavor has a bit of everything–tropical fruit, especially on first sips. Then citrus predominates before a dank and grapefruit combo provides a strong, sustained finish. Another Burlington beauty.
  • jmdrpi: Hop aroma is fruity, dank, and perfume. Taste leans sweet with an earthy finish.
  • puck1225: Dry bitter finish. Good feel. Overall a good beer.
  • GratefulBeerGuy: Unique and interesting but slightly strange. The light malt is mostly golden wheat and lightly malted grains of the feel style flavor. Smooth fin.
  • tekstr1der: Delicious single-hop Strata here, guess I should upload a pic… Lot’s of NEIPA goodness out of BBC and this is no exception. I really enjoy this particular hop strain, and they’ve nailed it on its own.
  • BEERMILLER121: A good NE IPA featuring Strata hops. Very easy to drink. Worth checking out.
