Discover Louvada Porter: Award-Winning Brazilian Craft Beer

A lively outdoor scene at a brewery with patrons enjoying drinks and food. The area is illuminated by string lights, creating a festive atmosphere. Tables with white chairs are scattered around, and groups of people are socializing, with a large sign displaying the brewery's name in the background.

Louvada Porter is a dark, Brazilian-made craft beer produced by Cervejaria Louvada, based in Mato Grosso. It is a gluten-free English-style porter known for its balance between seven different malts and a traditional regional sweetening agent.

Louvada was launched in 2014 by five partners at the brokerage firm of “Capital Investments for craft beer”. In 2015, the brewery’s production capacity reached 2,700 gallons and three beer styles to include Pilsen, IPA, and Weissbier.

Their first beer to win a medal of honor was their Hop Lager and recognized as the “Best in Brazil” by the Brazilian Beer Competition held in 2018. Since then, the brewery has won numerous prestigious medals to include “The Best Vienna in Brazil”, three-time award winner Benedita, “Top 10” most awarded breweries at the Brazilian Beer Competition in 2021, and other awards for their other releases over the past five years.

About Louvada Porter

  • Style: Primarily classified as an English Porter, though some consider it more akin to an American Porter.
  • ABV: 5.4%
  • IBU: 15
  • Appearance: Almost a black/brown
  • Flavor Profile: Toasty and roasted flavors, specifically chocolate and chestnuts.
  • Aroma: Chocolate and chestnuts derived from its blend of seven malts. It includes a regional sweet from Mato Grosso, providing a unique local character.
  • Hops: Proprietary
  • Mouthfeel: Smooth and full-bodied yet light and balanced.
  • Awards: Gold Medal Copa Cerveja Brasil 2024 and Silver Medal Brazilian Beer Competition 2025.
  • Overall Impression: We like the flavor of this Louvada Porter along with its balance and drinkability without the often overwhelming side of some bitterness due to malt combinations and other additives.
