Untitled Art is a Waunakee, Wisconsin-based brewery founded in 2016 by Levi Funk and Isaac Showaki, renowned for its innovative, frequently changing, and artistic, label-focused craft beverages. They produce a diverse range of items including unique beers, popular non-alcoholic options, CBD sparkling waters, and seltzers, distributing to over 27 states.

Deeper Dive Into Untitled Art

  • Location: Untitled Art brewery is based in Waunakee, Wisconsin. Founded in 2016 by Levi Funk and Isaac Showaki, it operates as a craft beverage producer focusing on innovative beers, hard seltzers, and non-alcoholic options.
  • Experimental & Limited Releases: They rarely repeat recipes and focus on creating unique flavor experiences.
  • Leader in Non-Alcoholic Craft Beer: They have a dedicated, award-winning NA division, creating high-quality, full-flavored non-alcoholic beers.
  • “Gypsy” Brewing Concept: They create recipes and produce them at Octopi, allowing for rapid innovation without owning a traditional brewery.
  • Artistic Collaboration: Each beer label is designed by a different independent artist.
  • Rapid Distribution: Despite being a specialized, creative brewery, they have expanded to 27 states, gaining national recognition for their unique, flavor-packed creations.

Citra Velvet IPA

  • Style: New England Style IPA (NEIPA)
  • ABV: 6.5%
  • IBU: N/A
  • Hops: Citra is the star, known for high alpha acids and intense citrus/tropical aroma (grapefruit, lime, passionfruit). Often paired with El Dorado, Mosaic, or Simcoe to enhance the tropical and hazy profile.
  • Appearance: Pours bright orange to straw color and great head retention.
  • Aroma: Prominent notes that combine floral with vanilla.
  • Flavor Profile: The beer presents a sweet, juicy profile to include ripe grapefruit, zesty lime, and tropical passionfruit.
  • Mouthfeel: Soft mouthfeel, and highlights citrus and with a vanilla nose with minimal, if any, bitterness.
  • Overall Impression: We view Citra Velvet IPA as an intense NEIPA but with a vibrant, juicy flavor that is very smooth, creamy, and provides a lingering vanilla finish. Our thanks to Marcelle at HEB for bringing this fantastic option to our attention. Great NEIPA and one that belongs in your fridge.

Community Reviews and Comments

  • Ratings: Recent community ratings (as of early 2026) for the Untitled Art Citra Velvet hover around a 3.8 to 4.0 out of 5 range, with many reviewers praising its drinkability.
  • Overall Sentiment: It is considered a very drinkable, low-bitterness IPA, ideal for those who prefer fruity, “hazy” styles over intense, bitter, or piney West Coast IPAs.
  • Untappd: Community members give it an average rating of 3.82.
  • BeerAdvocate: Recent individual ratings include scores of 3.83 and 3.93.
  • ttoadee: Medium gold pour, opaque haze but not murky, strong off white foam atop. Nose is citrus and floral. Taste sees citrus, creamy grain, strong herbal, floral, light kilned malt. Mouthfeel is medium. Finish is citrus with a noticeable floral note, and vanilla.
  • rodbeermunch: This might have been my fave of the 12er. I’m not much of a fruited ipa fan, but the zesting, when done right, can be enjoyable like this product was, even if not life shattering or affirming.
